چکیده

Magneto-optical traps (MOTs) are widely used for laser cooling of atoms. We have developed a high-flux compact cold-atom source based on pyramid MOT with unique adjustable aperture that is highly suitable portable quantum technology devices, including space-based experiments. The adjustability enabled an investigation into the previously unexplored impact size atomic flux, and optimisation allowed us to demonstrate higher flux than any reported sources use pyramid, LVIS, 3D-MOT or grating MOT. achieved 2.0(1)x10^10 atoms/s 87-Rb mean velocity 32(1)m/s, FWHM 27.6(9)m/s divergence 58(3)mrad. Halving total optical power 195mW caused only 26% reduction 33% decrease in velocity. Methods further as required been identified. low consumption small make this design wide range technologies.

High flux source of cold rubidium atoms

We report on the production of a continuous, slow, and cold beam of Rb atoms with an extremely high flux of 3.2 1012 atoms/s, a transverse temperature of 3 mK, and a longitudinal temperature of 90 mK. We describe the apparatus created to generate the atom beam. Hot atoms are emitted from a rubidium candlestick atomic beam source and transversely cooled and collimated by a 20 cm long atomic coll...

High-flux beam source for cold, slow atoms or molecules.

We demonstrate and characterize a high-flux beam source for cold, slow atoms or molecules. The desired species is vaporized using laser ablation, then cooled by thermalization in a cryogenic cell of buffer gas. The beam is formed by particles exiting a hole in the buffer gas cell. We characterize the properties of the beam (flux, forward velocity, temperature) for both an atom (Na) and a molecu...

A compact micro-wave synthesizer for transportable cold-atom interferometers.

We present the realization of a compact micro-wave frequency synthesizer for an atom interferometer based on stimulated Raman transitions, applied to transportable inertial sensing. Our set-up is intended to address the hyperfine transitions of (87)Rb at 6.8 GHz. The prototype is evaluated both in the time and the frequency domain by comparison with state-of-the-art frequency references develop...
